Frequently asked Questions about Fitness

1.     How do I get  abs like those in the fitness magazines? Should I do any specific abdominal exercises?

There is only one way to see those abs of yours and that is to clear the fat out of the way so they can be seen.  The six pack abs seen in fitness magazines are awesome but they take determination and work to achieve and not only by doing a certain exercise but by diet.

2.     I want to tone just my thighs. If I do hip and leg exercises, will my legs get thinner and more toned?

This can not be done the way you ask you can not loose fat in only certain areas and not others the body will reduce fat through out its self, you work the muscle to build it and you diet properly to reduce fat covering the muscle.

3.     What exercise is best for getting in shape running, take aerobics classes or weight training?

They all are, they all are great for getting into shape but the key is “they all” you need to do more than just one thing to as said get into shape.  There is no one exercise or lift that will do it for you, nor is it done only through activity but through activity and nutrition.

4.     What foods should I eat to get in shape that I want to be in?

You should eat a well balanced diet not a restrictive diet eat healthy foods fruits, vegetables, lean meats and complex carbohydrates, stay away from simple carbohydrates (sugars, starches, white breads) and high fat foods.

 5.     Why can’t I look like the people in the fitness commercials and magazines?

Looking like those people takes a lot of hard work and dedication, is there a need for you to look as such, being healthy and fit does not mean you need to mirror these few models.  With that said you can look like that but it takes commitment, time, and effort.

6.   How many sets and reps should I do and how much weight   should I use?

Sets and reps depend on where you are in your training cycle, are you just beginning are you in a strength phase or are you working for hypertrophy.

7.     Which is best free weights or machines?

Although they both have their place I must say that I am a proponent of free weights they tend to be more life like in movement and offer greater return to the lifter through increased stabilization which is required to complete many exercises.

8.     Will eating fat free foods, cause me to lose weight and get in the shape that I want to be in?

Look to fat free but don’t be taken in almost all candy id fat free but will eating lots of candy get you in the shape you want to be in?  Some fats are good too and very essential to your bodies needs.  Diet should be planned out and balanced properly.  The key to loosing any weight or girth or size is reducing calories either by reducing intake (diet) of them and/or increasing the burning of them by the body (increased physical activity).  These done the Right Way will accomplish the goal of a healthier, fitter you.

9.    Are any of those machines on infomercials able to achieve the look that those models have?

If you look carefully at any of these infomercials you’ll see in small print that the need for diet and increased physical activity are paramount to getting results, and this is where they fail for the common person wishing to get into shape and become healthy.
